The REGIONAL HUB for talent development, relationship building, and civic engagement.
The Leadership Louisville Center is the place where leaders go to connect with diverse networks, build understanding, and drive positive social and professional impact.
HISTORY OF THE LEADERSHIP LOUISVILLE CENTER
The Leadership Louisville Center began in 1979 by community leaders Wilson Wyatt, Barry Bingham, Nana Lampton, Henry Heuser Sr., Maurice D.S. Johnson, and Charles Herd. This group of individuals founded the Leadership Louisville program to ensure that Louisville’s future leaders would be knowledgeable about issues, well networked, and passionate about the success of the community.
Today the Center continues to be guided by those founding principles. Regional businesses and individuals at all career levels rely on the Center as a community pillar of talent development, relationship building, and civic engagement.
Our Values
We inspire and equip leaders to be better and do better – starting within.
INNOVATION
We challenge ourselves to continuously improve the way things are done, to explore new ideas and to creatively solve complex problems. We speak up and challenge the status quo.
CURIOSITY
We are relentless learners and celebrate the courage it takes to have new experiences that enable growth and allow us to better understand perspectives different than our own. We seek knowledge because it is essential to our ability to achieve.
STORYTELLING
We inspire and engage by being fluent in both expressing ourselves and listening to others; we empower others to find their voice. We move people through the stories we share.
IMPACT
We are passionate about our role in positively impacting our world and embrace the philosophy that we each have a responsibility to contribute to the greater good. We know that the power of one can make a difference, and the power of many can change the world.
EVERY LEADER DESERVES TO BE GREAT.
We believe that regardless of background or experience, everyone should be able to lead with confidence, courage, and connections. As a social impact nonprofit, we’ve graduated over 15,000 individuals through our leadership cohort programs, and welcome thousands to our headquarters on historic West Main St. Hundreds of organizations interact with the Center each year, through our talent development programs and support of other nonprofit organizations.
As a nonprofit organization, our success depends largely on the generous financial support of our partners, who sponsor our activities and donate to our mission-driven funds. Their investment has enabled thousands to grow as individuals, build stronger organizations, and positively impact our community and world.
